Kilhoran ace has drawn a tough novice race on friday next in trap 1 we have an outside trainer coming all the way from thurles in trap 2 we have a well bred sort in the shape of matching sara in 3 we have the ex tralee racing manager owned kahara abbey im in 4 in 5 we have the james roched trained slowcornerback and in 6 we have the liam o callaghan trained boxcar lilly...definitly not a punting proposition
joe collins, john ward and james roche all have a very goood strike rate with their charges and they will all be trying to get a win on the board
slowcornerback was well punted on his last outing and they could be trying to get their money back this time
my fella is short some schooling but im happy enough with his condition and im hopefull of a decent show but novice races are really a lottery

Venture bashes the shelbourne bookies

kilhoran venture(pictured) got the business done in headquaters last night winning in 28.90 and bashing the bookies in the process He didnt trap that well from 1 but when he hit the ground he really powered to the bend and at the first corner it looked a 2 dog race between michael donavans trap 5 and venture
venture went into over drive up the back and took up the running at the 3rd bend and went on to win comfortable by 4 lengths in a smart 28.90 just keeping him the right side of A1 class
Well done to Con and Elaine Guiney on this great win and im sure there will be many more to come

Very quiet at kilhoran kennels
It has been a very quiet time at the kennels over the last couple of months hence no posting on my blog..lol anyways thats all about to change with kilhoran ace due to run next week in his novice race in tralee this fella has taken an age to get on the race track proper with first a kidney infection and then i had to get his tonsils removed but he is 100 percent now and ready to run he has had a very interupted schoolling schedule so im not expected a whole lot from him in his novice race and will be happy if he runs well a bit more time on the race track will bring him on a ton
Kilhoran black (hondo black x mineola di) is due to be brought in to get him marked and hopefully qualify next monday this fella took a while to settle into kennels life and was slow to grub up early days but he seems to be getting more accustomed to it every day and with a bit of luck he will qualify next monday
Kilhoran aoife is off the track due to coming in season in early sept she will be put back into training come early december and she is gunning to get back into the swing of things it is not easy to keep her happy with the weather being so bad its hard even to get her out on a lead for a walk these days
Kilhoran venture sold a cpl of months ago from the kennel is running tonight in shelbourne and once again is up against some smart sorts but if he puts his head down he will make them all go abit he runs from trap 1 in the 4th of the night

Black is the colour
Kilhoran black (hondo black x mineola di) (bred by paul mccusker up north) checked into the kennels today,i picked him up early this morning from my rearers pat and mag sheehy in lixnaw and I'm delighted with his condition he is tipping 70lb and is a nice bit of a dog,he doesn't look his weight and is not a muscly type as he is lightly boned sort and has feet like a cat but I'm very happy with him he was a little nervy to start but I'm sure in a couple of days he will be well settled I'm just hopeful he will grub up for me this evening
he got the usual dose after coming into the kennel with the wormer and the flea treatment and i will let him alone for a cpl of weeks until i start his early learning he has chased the drag already so should be no bother .. i hope!!

venture going well in mullingar
kilhoran venture is still in the hunt in the fair warrior he ran a really impressively 2nd last week but has drawn a real tough heat the next night taking on tahina speed and ibexdotcom
mullingar is a really tight track and it looks to me venture struggles to run the bends as do many other dogs its not a track i would be inclined to run a dog on as there seems to be more than average trouble at the first bend but on the plus side i have to say there is a really good atmosphere at trackside if venture can get into one of the 3 qualifying positions next saturday night he will be doing really well

Aoife in season
kilhoran aoife came in season during the past few days
i was away on a little break the past week and moved her to a new kennel and it seems the change of environment brought it on so looks like she will be off the racing strength for a few months anyways i have enough to be going on with i suppose when u buy a bitch its part of the package
we will not breed her this time but maybe next year all things going well we will consider it
lets just hope she is 12 monthly and not breaking every 6 months because that will really limit her racing opportunity's

And you thought greyhounds where expensive!!!

A six-month-old sheep need never worry again about being turned into lamb chops after being sold for a record-breaking £231,000.
The Texel tup called Deveronvale Perfection became the most expensive sheep in the world after it was auctioned at a livestock market in Lanark.
The pedigree ram was bred by Graham Morrison, of Banff, and bought by Fraserburgh farmer Jimmy Douglas.
Experts said that although the "staggering" sale price would take some by surprise, the purchase was likely to be an excellent investment.
John Yates, chief executive of the Texel Sheep Society, said the ram is expected to father pedigree lambs worth millions of pounds for his new owner.
He said: "High prices are of no surprise at a prestigious event like this, but the staggering amount that Deveronvale Perfection did go for surprised a lot of people.
"But the Texel breed is a great investment and these breeders, when they see an animal of Deveronvale's stature, they see the added value for future returns.
"A lot of people see these animals as lamb chops, but a lot of effort and dedication goes into developing these flocks, which are at the top of the genetic pile.
"This was the elite animal which stood out, and I have no doubt, given the genetic superiority of the animal, that he will give Mr Douglas a good return."
Mr Yates said the previous UK record holder, Tophill Joe - another Texel - earned his owner £1m after being bought for £128,000 in 2004.
The previous world record price for a sheep was set in Australia in 1989 when £205,000 was paid for a Merino tup.
