kilhoran classic

I took classic for his first trial today after his long layoff due to his metacarpal injury i put him in the box for his first time he was slow away which was to be expected but ran well after and did a decent enough time and should qualify easy enough
however when i got home and checked him out he is very sore on his metacarpal that he hurt 7 weeks ago its very disappointing as he had 4 or 5 gallops and was sound the stress of running the bend must have done the damage i will bring him to the vet on Monday and have the injury x rayed and try and figure out what to do with him

you probably should've handslipped him close to or on the bend first time back. that way he wouldn't be hitting the first bend at top speed and he'd be less likely to do damage. the bones need to be re modelled to run bends and this is a gradual process. had a dog with the same injuries not so long ago, the good news is that it should have no impact on his racing performance once he matures.

i bought a pup off a bollix very well bred, when i picked it up sent it to damien mcann, he put it round and went very slow, he checked her out and she had an old metarcpalas injury which had calloused but wasn't fixed correctly when it happened, the bitch had to be rehomed.
luckiliy she was bred in purple

hope you have better luck
