the kingdom greyhound stadium hosted a smashing card last night and there was some great prize money on offer and some brilliant racing to boot on a very well attended night the highlight of the night would have to go to the pat buckley trained killahan panther who did the business in the big final of the night winning connections a cool 16000 euro he flew round in a smashing 28.39 time will tell whether he can take the step up in class to the open race scene but he looks a brilliant prospect for 2008
liketheclappers confirmed his standing as one of the top sprinters in the land with his win in the open sprint in a time of 17.63
droopys ike and iflookscouldkill went to traps as the leading contenders in the open 750 but the victory went to ike in a thrilling finish he held of the late challenge of shakira live and iflookcouldkill.... a nice tonic for kathleen murphy who is unwell at the moment
scarty lad again did the business in the final race of the night ..flashing from traps he led all the way to win in a fast time of 29.89 for the 550 trip and was really a step above all these on the night but all he can do is win his next target looks to be the kingdom derby next Friday night and he will be one of the local fancies for outright honours there is a good chance that the field will not be that strong this year with a lot of the top dogs will be heading for galway for the big money golden jacket
on a side note ballymac maeve sired 2 nice winners in tralee last night liam dowlings sire seems to throw some nice early pace and it showed in his own ballymac ken who won the consolation final of the a4 moormac sweep after missing his break he flew to the bend and took the lead and pulled right away from the field to win in a fast 28.85 ...... and i had my money on him so happy days
All in all it was a brilliant night in tralee lots of good racing big crowds and a great atmosphere and i have to say one of the most enjoyable nights i have had in tralee for a while
tg4 where there as well and will be showing some of the action on wednesday night on greyhound view
