"A Touch Special"
It certainly is proving to be quite a year for Kerry dogs and another new star emphasised his quality with a brilliant effort at Wednesday’s Retired Greyhound Benefit meeting at the Kingdom Stadium in Tralee. Kick For Touch was the star of the show as he won his sixth race from seven outings as he landed the Boylesports 550 in most impressive fashion. Trained by Mossie O’Connor for Tom Nolan and Tomas Ahern, the son of Droopys Vieri and Trionas Choice displayed a nice turn of early to shoot head on the run up. Droopys Arsene came home with his usual flourish but Kick For Touch kept on splendidly to win by a length and a half in a near record 29.65. It was some seven lengths to Callums Lad in third.
Another big run on the night was the 30.90 from the Liam Dowling trained Green Heat in winning the Gain Dogfood 570 where he led all the way to beat College Finsceal by four lengths. There was also a smashing run in the Denman Open Hurdle final where the Neilus O’Connell trained Hi Flying Ryan battled back to beat Time Me by a head in 29.24. Shane Murphy and Tony Wilson completed a great double as Wilcos Sonia won the Greyhound & Pet World Bitch 525 in 28.53 and later Wilcos Marcus took the Ballygodoon Stud/ Pat Curtin 500 in 27.18.
