The igb seem to be getting a little stricter with owners presenting dogs for training with a recent statement in the race card saying a dog presented for racing will no longer be accepted unless they are presented at the weigh in by the registered owner ..now i train a cpl of dogs for a cpl of different clients throughout the year...a small time player and all above board but it seems i will now have to apply for either an agents license or a private license the agent route only allows you to train for 1 individual owner where the private license allows you to train up to 10 dogs so today i have sent off for my private trainers license i only have a small kennel but i have room to expand if the needs a rise but i would not like to keep any more than 7 or 8 dogs at any one time as to do them right you need to put in the time and effort
For the record i had 9 winners last year and currentlty this year i have had 4 wins from 6 runners,a full list of winners and times are posted on the kennel section of greyhound data
im not one for kidding owners and ill tell you soon enough if they can run or not expenses in this game are dear enough without someone adding to the cost for the sake of it
over the past few years i have run in several tracks around the country including shelbourne, cork, galway, youghal, kilkenny, tralee and limerick and if i have dog good enough i will travel and dogs are placed to win
i will also school a dog if the needs arise
At the moment i have room for 2 dogs so if anyone fancys me training one for them give me a buzz or leave a comment here
