Bad planning

Just seen in today's sporting press that there is a big unraced sweep planned for shelbourne in early April... now with the mike cronin unraced classic due to start on the 6th march they are way to close together on the calender i mean if a trainer up the country was planning on coming to kerry to run a dog in the unraced in early march and now sees this sweep in Dublin he is not going to bother he might as well wait another month or so and race in shelbourne instead and along with the 10 grand prize money to the winner there is another 100k bonus on offer for the winner if he goes onto win the derby.....its great to see pat curtin putting some money back into the sport by the way of sponsorship but the timing is very poor in my book it would be a lot more logical if they waited until may or June to run it

Any later and it would be clashing with the Oran Majestic Unraced in Galway. It's great to see these comps being sponsored IMO, there should be plenty dogs to fill them, if some of the locals in kerry/cork were more willing to put their dogs into them they'd have no tropuble filling.

as far as i know the oran majestic is not for unraced this year its going to be a graded stake so that knocks that arguement on the head as for the point about kerry/cork dogs filling it i agree but there is no point being fodder for the big fellas either and the entry fee is way to high in my book at €80 for maybe only 1 run
