Won one lost one!!

A mixed couple of days for me on the racing front with kilhoran aoife disappointing a little in limerick on Thursday missing her break and then getting trouble she never really got into the race and finished down the field the only consolation is she did no harm to her grade and will have another day soon enough

Onto last night in kilkenny with kilhoran venture for the first round of the red mills champion unraced on paper it looked tough heat with pat buckley, matt O,donnell,john keily and martin leahy in the line up and to compound matters paul henessy came in as a reserve to trap 1!!!

so it looked like i was up against it big time however on the night my fella was good enough after some early trouble leaving traps he straightened him self and made the bend in front and pulled out a lead of about 5 lengths going up the back this was whittled down to about 3 1/2 at the line but our lad had done enough winning in a moderate 30.03 the track on the night was very heavy and the going estimate of 40 slow seemed a small bit conservative when u look at the fastest time of the night was 29.79,now for top class pups you would certainly be expecting better clocks but it is what it is anyways its always nice to win your novice race and it takes a little of the pressure off and it made the long journey home a wee bit shorter

venture has come out of the race well but is a little tired today after the traveling and the race so he will be on the easy list for a cpl of days and then i will start to prepare him for the second round next week
