The past weekend served up some cracking racing from shelbourne park,Dundalk and Thurles
Highlight of the weekend for me has to razledazzle billys run in the champion stakes he showed his class and he was a deserving winner of the 06 derby and should go very close in 07 having said that there are so many quality dogs around at the minute he will have to be at his very best to ward off all challengers to his crown. Mick savings is another performance i liked a lot and it would be nice compensation if he were to go on and win the champion stakes final after being denied a place in the Dundalk international by the powers that be, i still cant figure out why pat buckley didn't withdraw droopys electric so micks saving could get in the line up but any way that history now.
Dundalk hosted the first rounds of the bar one sprint cup and there was some nice performances here with roxholme Ryan being the stand out run on the Friday night
This ex english trained greyhound is now in the expert hands of Frazer black a well bred sort out of toll security x farantane sinead he brings a big reputation from across the water with him and lets hope he can keep qualifying although his seeding is giving me cause for concern(keith are you reading this ..lol)on a side note the dam farantane sinead has just recently whelped a litter to Dave's mentor all are doing well and are under the watchful eye of mike and tom tom so they are in good hands
now why Dundalk decided to have 4 to qualify is beyond me 11 heats 44 runners + 4 fastest losers makes no sense whatsoever if they where short of entries fair enough but they had plenty
anyways.......................................................
On to Thurles for the 4 quarter finals of the Tipp cup some very impressive performances from the winners here and the semi final draw will be eagerly awaited by the connections
scarty lad being a local dog i will be shouting for him come next week i wont be able to attend next week as i hope to have a runner in cork on saturday night next.
