Headleys mentor ran a cracker again last night when he finished second to definite opinion in cork and thus qualified for the final of the Oliver hawks memorial next week
I have to say i was delighted because he really looked up against it with the quality field he was meeting,he pinged from the box and ran well for 4 bends but from here on in his stride was shortening and he was praying for the line he clung on for second the 575 trip is definitely to far for him but he is a lot better today than he was last week
Last weeks run took a lot out of him so much so that he got no gallop for the 7 days
He will need to do everything right next week and will probably need to find another 20 spots or so on the clock but I'm hoping last nights run will bring him on a little more and as the old saying goes if your in you can win it
The Oliver hawks memorial 575 is classified as a group 2 race on greyhound data website so it is nice to have trained my first group 2 finalist in this early stage of my "training career"
