weekend racing

Top class racing is the order of the day this weekend with the first round heats of the Tipperary cup in thurles with €18000 to the winner and the one off boylesports dundalk international worth €25000 to the winner the headline acts
DUNDALK INTERNATIONAL
The line up for the dundalk invitation has thrown up some talking points with a couple of the selections leaving a lot to be desired
In trap 1 we have alexandrova this brilliant bitch and tracker only narrowly lost out to miss firecracker in the oaks final 2 weeks ago
In trap 2 si senor the ladbroke 600 runner up flies from half way and if he is on the premises on the home turn he will take some beating after a brilliant 28.24 trial last saturday
In trap 3 bar the devil last years derby favorite has been well below form this year and for me doesn't warrant a selection in the line up
In trap 4 droopys electric last years winner and another well below form this year after a brilliant first 12 months he has gone right off the boil after making a tame exit from the English derby his selection is another that could be questioned
Trap 5 houses tyrur lee the recent cox cup winner beating the ill fated phoenix paddy in the final of that event a decent dog and will be there or there abouts when they are handing out the prize money
Trap 6 brings the only English runner in the shape of westmead joe who has some nice English form but i think he will be up against it in this company
A trappy race to be getting involved in betting wise and for me i will not be punting in this one
If i had to have a little bet i would plump for alexandrova if she can come away a little better than she did in the oaks she could well lead and will be tough to catch
TIPPERARY CUP
The first rounds take place in thurles on Saturday night next with a top class field going to traps one i like is premier flight who runs in a hot final heat but i liked the look of him in his recent runs in the Munster derby and looks like one that could keep qualifying he lacks early pace but has a great finishing kick
